XR Rotterdam: Co-creating protest postersWorkshop, Community Building
Online Collaborative Collaging Session
Project type: Collaboration
Client/partner: XR Rotterdam
Goal: Create an open co-creation session that invites the general public to create visual material for an upcoming rebellion
Role: Initiator and Faciliator
Activities: Creating the workshop structure; Facilitating the workshop; Translating the workshop output into poster designs;
Output: A set of community created posters that were wheatpasted around Rotterdam in antecipation of the Spring Rebellion
As part of the Extinction Rebellion (XR) Rotterdam Arts circle, I had the chance to create and facilitate a small get together collaging exercise. The session was open to the general public with the intention of opening up the creative process and co-create poster ideas for the upcoming spring rebellion. You can view the workshop board here and the resulting posters throughout Rotterdam!
Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a decentralised “social movement with hundreds of local groups in almost sixty countries” that are “deeply concerned about the climate and ecological crises”. It acts on several fronts with different local groups like XR Rotterdam, and with diverse ‘circles’ that focus on different aspects of the movement (arts, outreach, future of democracy, action & logistics, etc.).
Some of these posters were printed and pasted throughout Rotterdam.
