Passers-by (2026)
Site-specific audiovisual installation, generative projection and soundscape
“Passers-by” is a generative audiovisual installation inside the metro station of Picoas in Lisbon.
Reflecting on the concept of non-places, by Marc Auge, Passers-by presents an interactive audiovisual installation that reconstructs the surrounding environment of Picoas metro station as a shifting digital landscape, shaped by the commuters presence and movement.
Using 3D capture, depth sensing, projection and a MIDI controller, the installation reconstructs the surrounding environment of the metro as a shifting digital landscape, shaped by the visitors presence and the passers-by movements. Outside, people see the representation of the space and how their movements leave a trace. Inside, a MIDI controller invites visitors to actively transform this digital replica.
The intervention builds on Mais uno +1 project space location, and opens up reflection around the logic of the non-space, by capturing traces of presence in a space that was never meant to pass through, not stay in.
